“TeenPact.” That’s a pretty popular word around our house! If you’ve never heard of TeenPact, allow me to brief you: TeenPact is a Government/Leadership class (from a Christian Worldview) for Christian students ages 13-19. Most of the students them are home-schooled, but you certainly may go if you attend public or private school, too!. TeenPact is fun. TeenPact is inspiring. TeenPact is AMAZING! Imagine a week FULL of learning about government, prayer walking, interviewing lobbyists, participating in parliamentary procedure .... and all of this at your very own at your State Capitol.
Imagine that week being a week to make friends.
To step outside your comfort zone.
To laugh.
A week to have a hands-on experience of how government works. And to get up really early...and go to bed late...and not really care.
This pretty much sums up TeenPact!
But…even though TeenPact is one of the best classes I’ve ever taken, it involves a lot of homework.*smile!* We spent all of January preparing…and…all of the week before TeenPact. Repeat: ALL WEEK. (that includes staying up until 1:00 Monday morning!!) :)
- Writing a Bill
- Researching three presidents, answering six questions each…100 words minimum
- Constitutional Analysis
- Reading the Governor’s most recent State of the State Address, and making a lists of the main points
- Memorizing State Officials' names and their jobs.
Yep. It was fun! :P (Seriously, it was. Just a lot of work!)
If you aren’t already convinced to attend TeenPact in your state next year, maybe these will help!

We car-pooled with four other families that we know...making a grand total of 8 of us going to TeenPact everyday...so, we used one of the families' 15-passenger van to ride in and around in ATL! :)
One morning, it was extremely foggy....and AWESOME!!! |
