"You never said it would be easy. You only said I'd never go alone"
-Mark Shultz
As we can see in Genesis 17, following God might not be the easiest, pain-free, most fun way to go, but it's totally worth it.
Abraham had to be circumcised at age 100!! I think that would be very painful, but Abraham did it!! So did Ishmael, at age 13! And all of Abraham's male servants and any male born in his household!!!!!! (This is one of the many reasons I'm glad God made me a female! ;) )
I believe that it is easy to do the fun, pain-free stuff for God, but are we willing to do the hard, painful stuff??
In Genesis 17, it says that Abraham did what God told him to do that very day. Immediately. Right away. Pronto. He didn't put it off, (because that would have been disobeying God, for one thing.) but he did it that day! (He also didn't have as much time to think about how painful it would be if he did it that day...! :) )
So, I think that, even thought sometimes it's not the most fun thing in the world, and maybe its hard, painful, or lonely, we should do what God says "quick". (It might not be possible to do it "that very day" for somethings, but......) :)
"You never said it would be easy, You only said I'd never go alone."
(just a few of my reflections....)
